kapre toh badal gaye
magar rahe zang aalood

agar dil nahi badla
toh yaqeenan tu hai wajib-ul-qatal

Parchai ka peecha karte karte
puhanch gaye kahin door

ab sirf taq’wa ka hai intizaar
us ek waar main mar jayen hazaar


Clothing has changed
yet you remain rusted

If the heart wasn’t converted
then indeed, you are worthy of being killed

Chasing the shadow
you have become distant

There’s only a longing for the pure intention
in that one strike, thousand die


کپڑے تو بَدَل گئے
مگر رہے زنگ آلود

اگر دِل نہیں بدلہ
تو یقینا تو ہے واجب-ول-قتل

پرچھائی کا پیچھا کرتے کرتے
پہنچ گئے کہیں دور

اب صرف طاق ’ وا کا ہے انتظار
اُس اک وار میں مر جائیں ہزار
